PRESENT SIMPLE – AFFIRMATIVE

Presente Simple - Afirmativa

Se utiliza el tiempo presente para expresar una acción que se realiza frecuentemente o que siempre ocurre.

Ejemplos:

I watch TV everyday. à Yo veo la tele todos los días.

She watches TV on Sundays. à Ella ve la tele los domingos.

He watches TV on the weekends. à Él ve la tele los fines de semana.

Vamos a ver aquí debajo cómo se conjuga el verbo "watch" (ver, observar) en este tiempo verbal.

I watch TV. à Yo veo la tele.

You watch TV. à Tú ves la tele.

He watches TV. à Él ve la tele.

She watches TV. à Ella ve la tele.

It watches TV. à Ve la tele.*

We watch TV. à Nosotros/as vemos la tele.

You watch TV. à Vosotros/as veis la tele.

They watch TV. à Ellos/Ellas ven la tele.

* El pronombre personal IT se usa cuando el sujeto es desconocido o cuando no es una persona física (máquina, empresa, animal o cosa).

Cuando el Sujeto es un pronombre de la tercera persona del singular (He, She o It), o cuando es un nombre o grupo de palabras que se pueden sustituir por uno de estos pronombres, se le añade al verbo una “s”.

Ejemplo:

I get up now. / She gets up now.

You get dressed. / He gets dressed.

We start work. / He starts work.

Se añade “es” cuando el verbo acaba en -o, -ch, -sh, -ss.

Ejemplos:

I go to bed. / She goes to bed.

We brush our teeth. / He brushes his teeth.

They watch TV. / She watches TV.

Cuando el verbo acaba en –y, se quita la letra “y” y se añade “ies”.

Ejemplos:

You dry your hair. / She dries her hair.

We study English. / He studies English.

They fry fish. / The cook fries fish.

PRESENT SIMPLE – NEGATIVE

Presente simple – Negativa

En la negativa el verbo principal permanece con su misma forma siempre. No se le añaden letras al verbo principal, pues antes de este va el verbo auxiliar correspondiente.

El verbo auxiliar que se usa en la negativa es "does not" o "doesn't" cuando el sujeto es un pronombre de la tercera persona del singular (She, he, it), o cuando es una palabra o un grupo de palabras que se pueden sustituir por dichos pronombres.

I do not watch TV. à Yo no veo la tele.

I don’t watch TV. à Yo no veo la tele.

You do not watch TV. à Tú no ves la tele.

You don’t watch TV. à Tú no ves la tele.

He does not watch TV. à Él no ve la tele.

He doesn’t watch TV. à Él no ve la tele.

She does not watch TV. à Ella no ve la tele.

She doesn’t watch TV. à Ella no ve la tele.

It does not watch TV. à No ve la tele.

It doesn’t watch TV. à No ve la tele.

We do not watch TV. à Nosotros/as no vemos la tele.

Do I watch TV? Yes, you do. / No, you don’t.

Do you watch TV? Yes, I do. // No, I don’t.

à ¿Tú ves la tele? Sí, yo sí. // No, yo no.

Does he watch TV? Yes, he does. / No, he doesn’t.

à ¿Él ve la tele? Sí, él sí. / No, él no.

Does she watch TV? Yes, she does. / No, she doesn’t.

à ¿Ella ve la tele? Sí, ella sí. / No, ella no.

Does it watch TV? Yes, it does. / No, it doesn’t.

à ¿Ve la tele? Sí, sí. / No, no.

Do we watch TV? Yes, you do. / No, you don’t.

à ¿Nosotros/as vemos la tele? Sí, vosotros/as sí. / No, vosotros/as no.

PAST SIMPLE – AFFIRMATIVE

Pasado simple - Afirmativa

Se utiliza el pasado simple para expresar una acción que se hizo en el pasado sin especificar si dicha acción se terminó de realizar en ese momento o no.

Los verbos regulares (los que siguen la regla general) añaden -ed para formar el pasado simple.

Los verbos irregulares no siguen regla alguna, por lo que hay que estudiárselos por separado cada uno de ellos para aprendérselos.

Ejemplo de una oración con un verbo regular en pasado simple:

I watched TV yesterday. à Yo veía la tele ayer.

Aquí debajo vamos a conjugar el verbo "watch" en pasado simple con distintos sujetos.

I watched TV. à Yo no veía la tele.

You watched TV. à Tú veías la tele.

He watched TV. à Él veía la tele.

She watched TV. à Ella veía la tele.

It watched TV. à Veía la tele.

We watched TV. à Nosotros/as veíamos la tele.

You watched TV. à Vosotros/as veíais la tele.

They watched TV. à Ellos/as veían la tele.
